French tire-manufacturer Michelin presented in Bulgaria's capital Sofia its new line of truck tires, called X Line Energy, designed especially for heavyweight wheel transport.
Michelin showcased their market leadership again by presenting a new line of truck tires, which significantly reduce fuel consumption compared to their previous model Energy Saver Greeen.
The company's product is designed for trucks covering long distances at a steady, highway speed, where X Line Energy offers reduced fuel consumption due to the low-friction qualities of the new tire model.
Michelin's new tires come as an answer to the economic crisis in Europe affecting logistics companies as well.
Fuel expenditure of transport companies has jumped from 28% to 40% for the 2008-2012 period following the economic downfall, according to data from the European commission.
Companies spend around 3% on tires.
So it comes as a fresh breath when Michelin's X Line Energy offers a saving of 515 liters for an annual mileage of 130 000 km. for trucks in Europe and more that a ton of saving in CO2 emissions.
Fuel-related spending can be decreased by 700 euros per year for a truck, the company said.
Fuel consumption is down almost 1l/100km compared to the company's last product, the Energy Saver Greeen, data shows.
The new technology does not compromise friction levels, Michelin officials say.
X Line Energy offers a 7% bigger contact patch than the previous tyre model, which means the tyre maintains good road stability at all weathers.
Longevity is also taken care of as X Line Energy acquires Michelin's "extra life" technology, which allows the truck tire to be "cut" and "regenerated" to sustain its quality and friction levels throughout its life and thus prolong its levels of exploitation.
Michelin's new model also offers a 29 kg. saving in the resources used.
X Line Energy also covers EU's latest ЕО/1222/2009 regulations from November 1, which require labeling for information on the tires' efficiency in road safety, road transport spending and environment impact.
