Bulgaria's Supreme Judicial Council (VSS) has appointed Pavlina Panova Deputy Chair of the Supreme Court of Cassation (VKS).
Her nomination was backed by 21 VSS members, with one abstention.
Panova's nomination was put forth by VKS Chair Lazar Gruev.
Gruev's proposal to VSS was to appoint Panova Deputy Chair of VKS and head of the Penal Department.
The vacancy at VKS opened up after then-VKS Deputy Chair Grozdan Iliev was elected Constitutional Judge from the parliamentary quota.
At its Thursday sitting, VSS also dismissed Angel Iliev from the post of Chair of the Sofia Appellate Prosecutor's Office at his request.
The decision was backed by 18 VSS members, with three abstentions.
