Five-time world female wrestling champion Stanka Zlateva, who temporarily retired from wrestling at the end of last year, is about to enter the political arena.

Zlateva has announced she is to run on the ticket of the ruling center-right GERB party in the upcoming elections.

"Yes, I accepted GERB invitation, we have not talked about details," she told Standard daily.

The legendary wrestler will be running in the town of Sliven, since she was born in a nearby village of Krushare.

Zlateva, 29, was extremely disappointed with her 72 kilograms freestyle silver medal at the Olympic Games in August, as she was tipped to win the gold.
