All entrance and exit points of Bulgaria's capital Sofia have been blocked by police in the aftermath of the abduction of 10-year-old Lara, the daughter of notorious drug lord Evelin Banev aka Brendo, according to local media.

The girl was abducted by three masked gunmen at approximately 7:30 am on Tuesday in the affluent Sofia suburb of Boyana.

The abductors forced her into a BMW X5 vehicle and headed towards the Okolovrastno Shose boulevard.

According to the latest media reports, the girl's bodyguard was shot twice in the back.

Banev was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison last month. He was charged with heading an organized crime gang and money laundering.

Banev is known as Bulgaria's "cocaine king."
