The Bulgarian Parliament will vote Thursday morning the unexpected resignation of PM Boyko Borisov's cabinet.

The vote will be preceded by a debate that will start with the opening of plenary, 9 am EET, and is expected to last up to 3 hours.

Borisov filed the resignation Wednesday morning, after days of massive protests against poverty and economic stagnation in the country.

The political group of ruling GERB party, as well as that of main opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party have stated that they will back the resignation.

If the resignation is approved by Parliament, Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev has to offer mandates for cabinet formation to the parliamentary groups, in the order of their size.

All political groups have however said they will not use their mandate, which would make necessary the appointment of a technical cabinet by Plevneliev and the calling of early elections.

Bulgarian citizens have already started rallies, petitions and social network groups in support of Borisov, hoping that the resignation will not pass.
