Bulgarian socialists have stated their support for ousting center-right party GERB from power and implementing a radical left policy during the 48th congress of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) taking place in Sofia.

BSP presented Saturday its motto of the parliamentary elections in the summer of 2013 - "Radical change for a democratic and social Bulgaria."

"The nation is melting away. Half of all Bulgarian citizens nowadays live in poverty or are exposed to risk of poverty. Inequality has become even more painful and unjust. Rampant crime is making people increasingly insecure. The grey economy is the largest sector of Bulgarian economy. Corruption is eroding society in its entirety," the pre-election program of BSP says.

BSP states its opposition to the dictatorship of monopolies in the country, which "has been looted by a handful of people", and draws attention to the exhausted economy and the "dismantled welfare state."

"Ousting GERB from power is a precondition for exiting the crisis and allowing the country to embark on a path of deep change which is anticipated in Europe" the political framework of BSP says.

BSP calls on citizens to reclaim the state by ousting the arrogant rule of GERB and voting for a change of the economic model.

Bulgarian socialists demand fair and unmanipulated elections and electoral accountability.

The socialists call for restricting the power of private monopolies and the grey economy, boosting the fight against corruption, and ensuring fair access to energy, water and other goods.

BSP vows to raise the question of a return to state-owned power distributors through buying back the majority stake of the companies or some other method.

Bulgarian socialists also insist on retaining corporate tax at 10% and the replacing flat tax system introduced during the rule of the three-way coalition government with progressive taxation.

The socialists also promise an increase of the minimum wage to BGN 450 by the end of their term in office, if voted into power.
