Bulgaria: Burgas Bus Bombing Was 'Family Affair' - Report The July 18 bombing at the Burgas airport killed 5 Israeli tourists, their Bulgarian bus driver and the perpetrator of the attack. Photo by BGNES

A Canadian suspected of organizing the bombing of a bus full of Israeli tourists in Bulgaria's Burgas  last year is a relative of the unidentified terrorist who died while planting the explosives, a report says.

According to the National Post, DNA testing has confirmed that the terrorist who died during the attack and one of his accomplices, a Canadian citizen, were relatives.

The exact nature of the relationship between the terrorist killed in the explosion and his Canadian co-conspirator remains unclear.

Matt Levitt, a US Hezbollah expert at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, noted Tuesday that family relationships appeared often within the ranks of the Iranian-backed Lebanese terrorist organization.

The Canadian accomplice used a fake US driver's licence that identified him as "Ralph William Rico." The man who died while planting the explosives used a fake US driver's licence that identified him as "Jacque Filipe Martin."

Bulgarian Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov stated last week that Bulgarian investigators now have "a well-founded assumption" that the perpetrators of the deadly attack belonged to the military formation of Hezbollah.
