GDBOP Officer Placed Under House Arrest for Espionage Charges
A GDBOP (Main Directorate "Fighting Organized Crime") officer, Georgi Karakolev, has been placed under house arrest on charges of espionage
Officers of Bulgaria's Chief Directorate "Combating Organized Crime" have detained a man who made a phone threat against Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.
The threat was made via the 112 emergency phone line, according to reports of the Interior Ministry.
A 61-year-old man called to voice his dissatisfaction with the way Bulgaria was being governed, saying that Borisov "ought to be killed."
After an hour, operators of the 112 emergency phone received two similar calls made from the same number.
GDOP officers found that the number was of 61-year-old Y.B., a Sofia citizen with a criminal record for theft.
The man was detained for 24 hours and his mobile phone and five SIM cards, were seized, including the one from which the threat had been made.
After a questioning, the man was issued a warning protocol.
