The Bulgarian Parliament finally launched Wednesday a new procedure to elect a constitutional judge from its quota.

This is the third such procedure after the flopped nominations of judge Veneta Markovska and prosecutor Galya Gugusheva.

On December 11, 2012, Gugusheva withdrew her candidacy to become a member of Bulgaria's Constitutional Court following a series of allegations of past abuse of power and money laundering deals.

Gugusheva became the second failed Constitutional Court parliamentary nominee, after the fiasco with Veneta Markovska, whose election by the Parliament was snubbed by Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev, due to allegations of trading influence, which she was not able to dispel.

The Parliament decided Wednesday that the new nominations should be submitted between January 31 and February 11.

The hearings before the Parliamentary Legal Committee is scheduled for February 27 and the vote will be on March 6.
