Bulgaria PM: Djokovic Win More Important than Nuclear Referendum

Politics » DOMESTIC | January 27, 2013, Sunday // 18:54

Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov commented first on Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic spectacular Australian Open win, when Borisov voted on the national referendum on nuclear energy late Sunday evening.

"I am extremely happy about Djokovic, this is a great success for the entire Balkans," said Borisov right after he cast his ballot.

The Bulgarian PM also suggested that some Bulgarian voters might have deemed the Djokovic game against Andy Murray, as well as Sunday's UK Premier Leaague games, more important than the national referendum.

In all, Borisov dismissed the poll as an ineffective attempt at mobilization by the Bulgarian Socialist Party, which was canvassing in favor of scrapped Belene NPP project.
