Thailand Fears More Floods

People in Thailand are being warned to remain on alert for further flash floods as more rain is forecast for the coming week. This year's highest sea tides are also set to take place around 8 to 10 October, weather officials said. Much of the country has been lashed by monsoon rains since August. More than 100 people have died and around three million have been affected by the flooding. According to the Irrigation Department, the central provinces, including Bangkok, are still at risk, although flows of water from the north of the country have eased slightly, the French news agency AFP reported. It is feared that high tides in the Gulf of Thailand will push floodwaters back into the swollen Chao Praya river, which runs through the capital.
