Bulgaria was shocked on Saturday when a 25-year-old man pointed a gas pistol at the head of Ahmed Dogan, the leader of the ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms, during a televised speech.
As it turns out, the attack against Dogan has also made it big in the world of cyberspace, with several videos showcasing the events attracting millions of YouTube viewers in just two days.
The most watched Dogan "assassination attempt" video had some 1.9 million views as of Tuesday afternoon, while two other videos showing Saturday's attack had approximately 1.5 million views.
The combined number of viewers of the attack was way over 8 million.

Ahmed Dogan, founder and leader of the ethnic Turkish DPS party ("Movement for Rights and Freedoms"), was the target of a gas pistol attack right on the floor of a party conference on Saturday by 25-year-old Oktay Enimehmedov, also a Bulgarian citizen from ethnic Turkish origin. No shots were fired.
Enimehmedov reiterated on Tuesday that he did not want to kill Dogan, but to scare him. Authorities have revealed that the gas pistol that was used in the attack was not capable of putting a life in jeopardy.
