Bulgarian Movement for Rights and Freedoms party leader Ahmed Dogan has not been harmed during the assault on his person at the party's national convention Saturday.
Dogan was attacked just as he was beginning his keynote speech at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia.
A man carrying a hand gun walked on stage as Dogan was speaking, after which a skirmish between him and the leader ensued.
Delegates and security rescued the party leader and brought him out of the hall.
Later MRF vice-chair Lyutvi Mestan confirmed that Dogan has not been harmed during the incident.
