5 Bulgarian Firms Banned from Importing Meat, Dairy into Russia

Russia's food safety authorities have issued a ban on the imports of meat and milk products produced by five Bulgarian companies.

A decision to that effect was made after experts of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance and their Bulgarian colleagues conducted an inspection of Bulgarian meat and milk producing plants in October, The Voice of Russia reported Friday.

The Bulgarian companies now banned from exporting meat and dairy to Russia are Mekom, Avis, Brezovo, BCC Handel, and "Meat Products".

Russia's Rosselkhoznadzor sanitary watchdog slapped a similar ban on "Les Viandes du Breton Inc", a Canadian meat exporter, several weeks ago after dangerous bacteria were found in a pork shipment headed to Russia.
