A 5.6 magnitude earthquake has been registered in the vicinity of Russia's Sochi, the 2014 Olympic capital.

According to the local seismic station, tremors were felt in the center of Sochi at 02.45 Moscow time and were weaker than the quake in the same region on Sunday, The Voice of Russia informs.

The news agency said that furniture and various objects in the homes shook and slid about precariously, with residents fleeing out into the streets in panic.
