The procedure for election of Bulgaria's new Chief Prosecutor, which was launched Thursday morning, is continuing after having already taken 9 hours.
Started at 9.30 am at Bulgaria's Supreme Judicial Council, the election faces off three candidates, Sotir Tsatsarov, head of the Plovdiv District Court, Galina Toneva, Deputy Chief Prosecutor, and Borislav Sarafov, head of the Specialized Appellate Prosecutor's Office.
Each of the candidates was heard and questioned by the members Council, with each the three presentations and discussions taking close to 3 hours.
All three candidates stressed on the need for gradual reform of Bulgaria's prosecution, but much of the discussion concentrated on their proving their impeccable background.
The nominees were heard in alphabetical order, with Tsatsarov coming last and ending after 6.30 pm.
According to regulations, the Supreme Judicial Council is now to hold a discussion regarding the merits of each of the three candidates.
