Simeon Djankov will get a second term in office as Finance Minister if center-right party GERB wins the 2013 parliamentary elections, according to Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

"Many people hate him but he is doing a very good job," Borisov said Saturday in an interview for Darik radio.

"Many countries went bankrupt and forced their people out into the streets after spending more than they had produced. We are responsible to the people and the next generations," Borisov said, stressing Djankov's contribution to Bulgaria's favorable position.

Borisov, as cited by dnevnik.bg, was adamant that he envisaged no ministerial reshuffles until the end of the government's term in office.

He suggested that the parliamentary elections would take place in July 2013 and rejected the opportunity of GERB triggering pre-term elections.

"If we wanted pre-term elections, we could have done it alongside the presidential elections and we would have won still. Now we have an awful lot of work to do and I would like us to wrap things up," Borisov reasoned.

Speaking in a subsequent interview for Darik radio, Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev agreed that the most likely period for the 2013 parliamentary elections was the beginning of July.
