A little after 8 a.m. on Thursday, the 112 emergency phone line received a tip-off that bombs had been planted at two courts in Bulgaria's Black Sea city of Varna.

The buildings are located on the Nezavisimost square and Trakia square in Varna.

The court on Nezavisimost square stopped operations for an hour for an inspection of the police's anti-bomb and the morning sittings at all units of the court resumed by 10 a.m.

The inspection at the court on Trakia square is to finish at 11 a.m., after which the sittings will continue.

Earlier on Thursday, an anonymous bomb alert closed the Sofia City Court in the capital.

The bomb threat was received at the 112 emergency phone line at 8.15 a.m.

The building was evacuated and police squads are inspecting the site.

On Thursday morning, Sofia City Court is to try the case against Hristo Monov, former Director of the Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) and review an appeal for a change of the remand measure of Alexey Petrov, former employee of the State Agency for National Security, DANS, murky businessman and alleged crime boss.

A spate of bomb threats at Sofia-based courts was unleashed in November.

Bomb threats stopped the operations of the Sofia City Court and the Sofia Regional Court on November 9, and the Sofia City Court closed doors on November 27 for the same reason.
