Bulgaria is among the seven European Union Members States whose citizens are the most pessimistic about the financial state of their households in 2013.

The data, cited by the Bulgarian news agency BTA, has been released by Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU.

The stats further show that every fourth European faces daily financial hardship.

Greeks are the most pessimistic regarding expectations for 2013, with every second respondent offering a grim forecast.

They are followed by people from Hungary, Malta and Portugal. Bulgaria is fifth, Lithuania and Italy are next in the group of seven countries where pessimism exceeds 40%.

Bulgarians, Greeks, Lithuanians, Romanians, Spaniards, Portuguese, and Cypriots are also the EU citizens facing the most financial hardship.

Citizens of Denmark, Norway and Luxemburg are the most optimistic, while those from Poland, Belgium, France, Germany and the Czech Republic rank in-between.
