Young people from different ethnic backgrounds are cleaning Sunday the Bulgarian capital Sofia from swastika and other hatred symbols in a bid to make the city a better place to leave.
The initiative is the second stage of the "Let's Clean Hatred" campaign, dedicated to the international day of tolerance. It started at 10:30 am from the building of the Sofia City Hall.
The Mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova, the Ambassador of Israel, Shaul Kamisa-Raz, and the Chair of the Education Committee at the Sofia City Hall, Malina Edreva, are also taking part in the cleaning effort.
The campaign aims at assisting the integration of ethnic and religious minorities in Bulgaria; at presenting successful multi-cultural dialogue models; overcoming prejudices and fear from the different, and increasing the sensitivity of society in cases of hatred, xenophobia, racism, and anti-Semitism.
