Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev and his Lao counterpart Choummaly Sayasone have vowed to strengthen the economic and trade relations between the two countries.

The two officials met during the  Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM-9) summit in Vientiane.

Bulgaria and Laos are to establish a plan for the further development of their bilateral relations, it was made clear during the meeting.

Agriculture, water management, energy and pharmacy are among the key economy sectors in which Bulgaria and Laos have the potential to cooperate, Plevneliev has noted.

Plevneliev has also invited the Lao business community to invest in Bulgaria.
