Scrapping the grid access fee for renewable energy producers would lead to an increase in power prices for the population, stated Bulgarian Economy and Energy Minister Delyan Dobrev Saturday.
Thus in effect Dobrev has contributed towards the unclarity regarding the alleged role of renewable energy for higher electricity prices in Bulgaria.
Over the week, the head of Bulgaria's State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR) Angel Semerdzhiev said that surcharges for renewable energy could lead to 3-4% rises in power prices starting July 1, 2013.
Saturday Minister Dobrev reiterated his position that scrapping the access fee for the national grid will mean that the cost will have to be paid by consumers rather than producers.
The fee for access has been vehemently protested by Bulgaria's renewable energy producers.
However Dobrev once again stated Saturday that the government has no plans for cancelling the fee.
He also added that it is too early to speculate about power prices in the next pricing period after July 1, 2013.
