The Police Chief in Bulgaria's southern city of Blagoevgrad, Georgi Kostov, firmly denies reports that the SUV of Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, has been involved in traffic incident Friday.

"There is no such incident. We would be the first ones to know if anything of the sort has happened," Kostov is adamant.

Bulgaria's National Security Services, NSO, also deny the reports, saying none of their vehicles had been involved in an incident Friday.

The Bulgarian news agency BGNES reported earlier that Borisov had been involved in a fender-bender during his visit to Blagoevgrad for the opening of the renovated "Pirin" sports facility. According to BGNES, Borisov had been driving his SUV in person, and hit on the breaks after realizing he took the wrong turn. At this point, he had been rear-ended by the NSO vehicle driving behind.

"There is no such thing. I was at work and saw Borisov behind the wheel of the SUV. He was speeding, and took the wrong turn indeed, but traffic police quickly redirected him, and he made another turn. There were no breaks, no fender-bender," a local bartender, who works in an establishment at the intersection where the alleged incident happened, says, quoted by the Bulgaria "Trud" (Labor) daily.

This would be the latest of a series of traffic accident where NSO vehicles have been involved.

In June 2012, a NSO Mercedes automobile crashed with an ambulance at a busy intersection in the Bulgarian capital Sofia.

At the end of October 2011, a black BMW SUV of NSO was photographed by the Bulphoto agency evening, crashing in a Volkswagen Touareg.

In May 2011, a pilot NSO car, leading the procession of then outgoing President, Georgi Parvanov, and a car with Kardzhali license plates crashed at an intersection in the city. There were no reported injuries.

On February 15 2011, the procession of Borisov got involved in a traffic accident on its way from Sofia to the western town of Godech.

The government-issued BMW X5 hit another car – a Volkswagen Passat with three men inside. There were no injuries, but both vehicles were damaged.

Another car from the official possession was also damaged after a fender-bender with the Volkswagen which spun around from the impact.

The Volkwagen driver insists the BMW traveled at high speed in his lane and he couldn't do anything to prevent the crash. Both drivers have been tested for alcohol and the blood probe came out negative.

This was the second accident in less than a month involving Borisov's procession – at the end of January a government vehicle hit a car when traveling to the northern city of Pleven. The crash did not cause injuries or substantial damage. The probe revealed it the accident was caused by an illegal passing of the NSO cars.

In September, 2010, the procession of Parvanov, was involved in an accident near the village of Malinovo, in the area of the northern city of Lovech. At the time, the Presidential Office commented there had been, indeed an accident near the procession, but NSO vehicles were not involved.

In April, 2010, at the busy intersection of the "Bulgaria" boulevard and "Todor Kabsleshkov" street in Sofia, the car, in which Defense Minister, Anyu Angelov, was riding, crashed in a vehicle passing at a green light. A toddler was injured during the crash, after the NSO car ran a red light and did not have any special markings such as a siren or flashing lights.
