Bulgarian President, Rosen Plevneliev, already has a new job for outgoing Chief Prosecutor, Boris Velchev, and will nominate him to become a constitutional judge.
The news was reported by the Bulgarian Trud (Labor) daily, citing insider sources in the Presidency.
In addition to the presidential nomination, the Parliament has to nominate two more judges for the Constitutional Court. This will happen on October 31 with a public hearing, similarly to the one held for the election of members for the new Supreme Judicial Council, VSS, from the parliamentary quota.
Again according to Trud, one of these candidates is the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Ekaterina Mihaylova, from the right-wing Blue Coalition. She had even secured the support of the ruling, center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB. However, Ivan Kostov, leader of one of the parties in the Coalition, Democrats for Strong Bulgaria, DSB, had opposed Mihaylova's run because he did not want to part with her.
The outgoing Chair of VSS, Aneliya Mingova, is also among the candidates from the parliamentary quota, Trud writes.
