Ukraine Claims Destruction of Russian Strategic Bomber
Ukraine's military announced the destruction of a Russian Tu-22 strategic bomber, allegedly involved in nighttime airstrikes targeting Ukrainian cities
Bulgarian Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov has slammed Tsvetlin Yovchev, the former head of the State National Security Agency DANS and current presidential advisor, for admitting that Bulgaria has a grave national security problem after the July 18 terrorist attack.
"I think that Tsvetlin Yovchev's statement is unfair," Interior Minister Tsvetanov said on BNT Wednesday regarding Yovchev's words that Bulgaria has a serious problem with its national security in the aftermath of the Burgas Bus Bombing.
The July 18 terrorist attack in Bulgaria's Burgas, also known as the Burgas Bus Bombing, killed 5 Israeli tourists and a Bulgarian bus driver at the Sarafovo Airport near Burgas.
"I haven't seen the interview. I read about it in the papers. If that was really the major topic in your conversation, I think it is unfair on his part. After all, until recently, he was the head of the State National Security Agency," Tsvetanov declared regarding Yovchev in what seems to be a repeat of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov's statement in early July 2012 that the media criticizing the work of the Bulgarian Interior Ministry help the mafia.
"It is more important for all of us who took part in the President's national security council to unite, and to execute a proper analysis," the Interior Minister argued in his criticism of the ex intelligence head's confession about Bulgaria's national security glitch.
Tsvetlin Yovchev served as the head of DANS for more than a year under the Borisov Cabinet; he is currently the head of the cabinet of Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev, who was elected on the ticket of PM Borisov's ruling center-right party GERB.
