Prices of cross-city bus tickets in Bulgaria increase by BGN 1-2 as of August 1.
Transport companies have said that the increase is necessary due to the higher fuel prices.
According to industry representatives, a 10% increase in fuel prices from April 2011 has not yet been calculated into bus fares.
Bus companies say that fuel accounts for 40-70% of the cost price of the transportation service.
The increase in cross-city bus fares is expected to amount to 4-7%.
Starting August 1, a one-way bus ticket from Sofia to Varna will cost BGN 33 and a one-way Sofia-Burgas ticket will sell for BGN 29.
Discounts for senior citizens and children remain in place.
