Gilles Chazal, Director of the world-famous museum Petit Palais in Paris, who arrived Wednesday in Sofia, has requested a schedule change to visit the excavations at the Sofia Largo and the Hagia Sophia Church.

Chazal revised his agenda after Bulgarian Culture Minister Vezhdi Rashidov told him about the unique cultural heritage at the sites and the projects to build underground museums at both spots, according to a media statement of the Culture Ministry.

"It is high time for Europe and the world to notice us because we have a unique culture. I am glad that some 200 exhibits of the Petit Palais will be displayed in Sofia in the autumn and a special exhibition of Bulgarian artists will be presented in the prestigious halls of the Petit Palais in Paris," Rashidov stated during his Wednesday meeting with Gilles Chazal.

"Bulgaria has a rich culture, but the hearts of Bulgarians are even richer," the director of the Petit Palais told Rashidov.

On Thursday, Chazal will visit the National Gallery for Foreign Art, the National Art Gallery, the Boyana Church, the National History Museum and the National Institute of Archaeology and Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences to select the best halls for the forthcoming Petit Palais exhibition in Sofia.
