July 5 2012 marks three years since Prime Minister Boyko Borisov's centrist-right GERB swept to victory in the country's latest general elections and took over.

GERB's parliamentary group chairman Krasimir Velchev has briefed reporters on the occasion.

"We succeeded from keeping taxes from raising, we did not decrease retirement pensions, layoffs were not too large," he said.

"We are doing what we can," he said.

Velchev refused to assess the work of his party's ministers.

Prior to the MPs statement, oppositional left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party, ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) and far-right Ataka also assessed GERB's three years in power.

The oppositional formations have unanimously declared that the government has failed.
