Croatia's national football team has scored a 3:1 win against Ireland in Euro 2012 Group C.

Thus, the Balkan nation has come ahead in the group ranking, after earlier on Sunday the other two teams in the group, Italy and Spain, ended their match in a draw.

Croatian forward Mario Mandzukic scored two goals against Ireland in Group C action at the European championship Sunday in Poznan, Poland.

Mandzukic's first goal came in the 3rd minute. Ireland quickly answered back in the 19th minute as defender Sean St Ledger got behind Croatia's Vedran Corluka and headed a beautifully placed free kick over goalie Stipe Pletikosa.

Croatian forward Nikica Jelavic also scored for Croatia chipping a shot past Given, putting Croatia in front 2-1 in the 43rd minute.

The beginning of the second half mirrored the first 45 minutes, one that featured another Mandzukic goal more than three minutes in.
