Co-hosts Poland open Euro 2012 on Friday, hoping for a dream start against Greece – a team that has already managed to pull off one of the remarkable upsets in the tournament's history.
The home boys are considered favorites to win their crucial opening match, with Borussia Dortmund trio Blasczykowski, Lewandowski Pisczcek expected to bring plenty of flair and momentum from the German league and cup double to the team.
However, Greece are not to be underestimated, as Friday's clash begs comparisons with their 2004 opening victory against then hosts Portugal en route to a surprise title that was sealed with a second win against the home side.
"Greece has spoilt a party before and now we will try it again," defender Georgios Tzavellas has said, as cited by DPA.
Chances for a Poland-Greece final are deemed extremely low as the much anticipated Euro 2012 kicks off on Friday.
Football fans will see 31 games over the next three weeks, as Spain look to defend the title they won in Vienna four years ago. Germany and the Netherlands are also among the top favorites.
