Bulgaria's former EU commissioner Meglena Kuneva is about to make her next step towards forming her own political party, according to a media report.

The initiative committee in charge of forming Kuneva's future political party will be officially created on Sunday in Sofia, dnevnik.bg reports, citing its own sources.

Human right expert Yonko Grozev is expected to chair the initiative committee, the website says.

The committee will include some of the people who endorsed Kuneva in last year's presidential elections, as well as politicians who have decided to drop out of other right-wing projects.

Kuneva announced officially the transformation of her civic movement to a political party on Europe Day, May 9. The new party is to inherit the civic movement's name (Bulgaria for Citizens).

In March, Kuneva discontinued her membership in the liberal National Movement for Stability and Prosperity party.
