Politics » DOMESTIC | May 23, 2012, Wednesday // 11:14

Bulgarian Finance Minister and Deputy PM Simeon Djankov is to inform the Parliament about the measures undertaken by the cabinet in the aftermath of the earthquake that shook the country Tuesday.

Regional Development Minister Lilyana Pavlova and Economy and Energy Minister Delyan Dobrev will also report on the cabinet's measures.

Earlier on Wednesday, the left-wing oppositional Bulgarian Socialist Party came up with a declaration demanding that Djankov, Pavlova and PM Boyko Borisov address the Parliament regarding the work of the crisis headquarters that had to assess the consequences of Tuesday's earthquake in the region of Pernik.

BSP MP Angel Naydenov believes that millions, if not tens of millions of BGN would be needed for repair works and compensations.

The earthquake had a magnitude of about 5.9-6.0 on the Richter scale and struck at 2:58 am Tuesday morning. Its epicenter was about 6 km from the city of Pernik.
