Bulgaria's western city of Kyustendil is holding Sunday elections for new municipal councilors.
Nearly 58 500 voters can cast a ballot for 19 runners, of whom 3 are independent, while the rest represent 2 coalitions and 14 political parties.
There are 119 polls, one of them with handicap access. All security cameras at school buildings used as voting polls are turned off under the directive of the Municipal Election Commission in order to not disturb voters.
The polls opened at 6 am and will close at 7 pm. The closing time will be extended in case there is a line of voters.
Several people were arrested Saturday for vote buying in the Roma district of the city.
The elections are held now because the magistrates annulled the results of the October 23 2011, local elections over serious violations of the vote in the village of Konyavo.
