Bulgaria: Bulgarian Ex-EU Commissioner to Found New Party Wednesday - Report File photo of Meglena Kuneva by BGNES

Former European Commissioner and former Bulgarian Presidential runner Meglena Kuneva is set to announce the transformation of her civic movement to a political party on Wednesday.

The announcement will be made in the Danube city of Ruse, dnevnik.bg says, citing sources close to Kuneva.

The former EU Commissioner's press office has officially announced that she will attend a press conference in the city's Regional History Museum and then deliver a lecture dedicated to Europe Day (May 9) at the local university.

Many of Kuneva's supporters have been attracted by her particularly "European" appeal.

It is yet unclear whether the new party will inherit the civic movement's name (Bulgaria for Citizens.)

According to the latest poll conducted by the Mediana agency, a total of 5.5% of Bulgarians voters would vote for Bulgaria for Citizens at the next parliamentary elections, provided it becomes a party. The poll results were released on Tuesday.

In March, Kuneva discontinued membership in the liberalNational Movement for Stability and Prosperity party.
