Bulgaria: Bulgaria Sees 20% Increase in Foreign Visitors March 2012 File photo

The number of arrivals of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria increased by 20.5% in March 2012 as compared with February, reaching 336 900, according to the country's National Statistical Institute.

A 1.7% increase was registered in holiday and recreation visits, while the number of business visits grew by 8.4% as compared to the previous month.

In March 2012 the arrivals of visitors from EU Member States decreased by 3.0% in comparison with the same month of the previous year.

However, a growth was registered in the visits from Austria – by 27.0% Germany - 14.7% and Romania - by 7.2%. A significant decrease was observed in the visits of the citizens from Greece – by 14.3% and the United Kingdom - by 11.6%.

In March 2012 the number of the trips of Bulgarian residents abroad was 308 100, or by 36.0% more than in February 2012.
