Recently dismissed Bulgarian Economy and Energy Minister, Traicho Traikov, will continue to work for the cabinet.

The information was reported by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Simeon Djankov.

Speaking in an interview for the State TV BNT, Djankov said that Traikov will be given a special task because he "could be useful in some projects."

The Finance Minister further explained that these projects will become known in just days and talks between the two were already going on.

At the beginning of the week reporters spotted the ex Economy Minister heading for a meeting with Djankov.

Last week Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, and his ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB, in a surprise move, decided to dismiss the Economy and Energy Minister. The grounds for it remain unclear.

Borisov, speaking Friday in an interview for the State TV BNT, said Traikov had been sacked because since the beginning of the term of his ruling party nothing has changed in the Bulgarian energy sector. The PM explained that the "icing on the cake," prompting the dismissal, had been the fiasco with the Bulgarian business forum in Qatar.

His other Deputy, Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, contradicted the above statement by saying the Minister had resigned for personal reason.

On his part, Djankov commented then that he was the one to propose Traikov as a member of the cabinet.

"He always protected the interests of Bulgaria. He is a very gifted person," said the Finance Minister.
