Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikolay Mladenov has reacted with irritation at allegations by dismissed Minister of Economy and Energy Traicho Traikov that the latter's recent firing was partially caused by Mladenov.

On Thursday Bulgaria's PM Boyko Borisov said he dismissed Traikov over a failed Bulgarian-Qatari business forum organized in Doha over the week.

According to Borisov, "this was the drop that made the cup spill," after he had given his economy minister a number of "second chances."

In an interview Saturday, Traikov had commented that he was far from idling at the forum, and the ill organization of the event was a responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which had failed to coordinate it properly.

What is more, the ousted economy minister suggested that Minister Mladenov had gone to PM Borisov to "complain" about the work of his colleague.

"This is nonsense, I did not go to cry on anyone's shoulder. It was not my fault that the forum in Qatar was improperly organized. PM Borisov's motives for the dismissal are completely clear," quipped an angry Mladenov for bTV Sunday.

"I find it quite displeasing that reasons for Traikov's firing are being sought in my actions. I do not wish to comment further," added the Bulgarian top diplomat.

When asked further by the bTV journalist, Mladenov let out that he is "angry," but "wishes not to be involved in intrigues, nonesense and speculations."

At the same time, he confessed that the business forum in Qatar, during which no Qatari businessmen showed up, was entirely organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to Mladenov, this was the case since the Ministry of Economy and Energy offered no cooperation in arranging the event whatsoever.
