Hristina Hristova, leader of the marginal liberal Movement for Stability and Prosperity (NMSP), has criticized Bulgaria's former EU Commissioner Meglena Kuneva for officially leaving the party.

On Sunday, Kuneva discontinued her membership in the party, claiming it was "a hard personal decision" and pledging to stay in politics.

"We heard from Mrs. Meglena Kuneva yesterday that she is officially leaving NMSP because she has her own political project that is different from NMSP," Hristova commented on Monday.

"Mrs. Kuneva has the right to do that, since she believes that those who voted for her are different form NMSP and that her values and the values of her future party are different form NMSP," she added, as cited by BGNES.

According to Hristova, two separate ways exist in Bulgaria's political life: the way of NMSP, a party that "continues to demand supremacy of law, freedom for citizens, stimulation of entrepreneurs, stopping the monopolies, creating more jobs and investments" and "the still unclear future party of Mrs. Kuneva."

"We will cautiously follow this project, as we want to see what values, aims and principles it has that are different from those of NMSP."

Kuneva founded the Bulgaria for Citizens movement at the end of 2011, provoking speculations she might go on and found a new political party to compete in general elections 2013.
