Traicho Traikov, Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism, will sign Friday in Novi Sad a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the implementation of the "Roman Emperors' Road" tourism project.

The "Roman Emperors' Road" is a project for an international cultural itinerary of four countries – Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, and Serbia.

It is aimed at promoting cultural heritage from the Roman Empire period combined with modern practices such as spa tourism.

The MoU is expected to boost cross-border cooperation in the sphere of cultural tourism in Southeastern Europe.

During the visit to Serbia, Traikov will also participate in a regional conference on "Sustainable Tourism for Rural Development".

The forum will be held from 22 to 24 February in Belgrade and Novi Sad parallel to the 34th edition of the International Fair of Tourism (ITTFA) in Belgrade.

Co-organizers of the conference are the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), which will be represented by its Secretary General, Taleb Rifai, and the UN Millennium Development Goals Achievement Fund.
