The total revenues from nights spent in the accommodation establishments in Bulgaria reached BGN 78.9 M million or by 3.3% more compared to the same period of the previous year.
The data was published Thursday by the country's National Statistics Institute (NSI).
An increase by 6.8% in the revenues from nights spent by Bulgarian citizens was registered, while the revenues from nights spent by foreigners decreased by 0.4%.
The number of nights spent by Bulgarian citizens in accommodation establishments in the fourth quarter of was 1 085.7 thousand or by 8.5% more compared to the same quarter of 2010.
The number of the nights spent in accommodation establishments by foreigners decreased by 13.8%.
In the fourth quarter of 2011, the total number of nights spent in all accommodation establishments was 1 617.0 thousand, thus preserving the level from the same period of 2010.
A more significant decrease was observed in the number of nights spent by citizens from Russia – down by 45.1%, Greece - by 24.4%, Germany - by 19.1% and Turkey - by 16.4%.
There was an increase in the number of nights spent by citizens from Ukraine - by 50.6%, Romania - by 17.6% and Italy – by 17.5%.
The total number of arrivals in accommodation establishments increased by 6.1% and reached 815.8 thousand, compared to the same quarter of 2010. The relative share of arrivals of Bulgarian citizens was 71.9% of all arrivals.
Foreigners' arrivals in accommodation establishments increased by 2.5 thousand (1.1%), with the greatest share attributed to citizens from Greece and Germany - 16.3 and 8.8% respectively.
Almost all foreigners preferred to spend nights in hotels and only 1.7% of them spent nights in other accommodation establishments.
The total occupation of beds in accommodation establishments in the fourth quarter of 2011 was 16.1% or by 1.8% more from those registered for the same period of 2010.
In the fourth quarter of 2011, 2 091 accommodation establishments - hotels, motels, camping sites, mountain cabins and other establishments for short-term accommodation with more than 10 bed places operated in the country.
The number of rooms in them was 65.1, while the number of beds - 136.3 thousand.
In comparison with the same period of 2010 the total number of accommodation establishments and beds in them decreased by 1.2% and 10.3% respectively.
