Sergey Stanishev, former Bulgarian PM and current interim President of the Party of European Socialists, has declared he has not given up fighting to stay in charge of Bulgaria's left-wingers.
Despite rumors that he may voluntarily step aside as leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), Stanishev said on Wednesday that he would definitely stay in charge until the party's congress in May, when he will run for a new term.
Stanishev's main enemy is former President Georgi Parvanov (2002-2012) who made an expected comeback to BSP after his second term in office ended in January. Parvanov is widely believed to eye the party's leadership position.
The oppositional BSP's main economic task is to create policies that would ensure a real economic growth and a recovery of the market economy, Sergey Stanishev claimed in the Northwestern town of Montana on Wednesday.
