Maintaining low deficit and financial stability, reforms in the health care and social sectors, application of new anti-corruption measures, are all among the priorities for 2012 outlined by the Parliamentary group of Bulgaria's ruling GERB party.

The Chair of the group, Krasimir Velchev, who spoke Wednesday during the first session after the Members of the Parliament returned from their winter holiday break, further declared the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB, does not wish for earlier elections, adding these were rumors, spread by the opposition, to create instability.

"The cabinet has a clear plan that it follows strictly and in times of crisis we will work to secure the largest possible support for the reforms among all Bulgarians. We will continue to make Bulgaria e modern and dignified EU member. Last year the cabinet Borisov set an example in Europe of low deficit and financial stability, which we will maintain in budget 2012," Velchev stated.

The MP stressed on the increased funding for health care in 2012. He vowed that GERB will bring an end to the so-called "garage retail" in the sector where dishonest "merchants" make money from suffering patients.

Velchev voiced conviction that the country's European partners will note the effort and the measures to fight corruption in the interim report on Bulgaria's internal affairs and judicial system, due in February.

"All reforms are difficult, but they are the only way to remedy old and inefficient systems," the MP concluded.
