Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has lamented his personal life as a "big failure" because of his ambitions.
"Looking back in time, I see that almost my entire personal life has been filled with mistakes. Actually, my personal life is a big failture," he explained in an interview for the Bulgarian daily "Presa" ("Press") published Tuesday.
Borisov blamed his failed personal life on his drive for success and his unyielding ambitions.
"[It's] the ambition! The price of success, of being devoted, of being anywhere anytime, weekends, holidays, vacations, all the time," he replied when asked why he deemed his personal life to be a failure.
Borisov divorced his wife, with whom he has one daughter, in the late 1980s, and has been in living out of wedlock with Tsvetelina Borislavova, a prominent Bulgarian banker, even though he claims to have split up with her since before he took over the PM job in 2009.
When asked about his "first-person singular" expression style, Borisov rejected the notion that he saw himself as omnipresent and onmipotent.
"When I say that I do something – this is a collective reference to the [ruling GERB] party, the government, the ministers... My merit is that I got together all those we people, we have absorbed all that [EU] money, and are launching something new every day. That's why I say "I". I don't claim to be omnipotent," the Bulgarian PM stated.
