More than 700 babies, conceived through an in vitro procedure, were born in Bulgaria in 2011, all financed by the Fund for Assisted Reproduction.
In 2011, the Fund "I Want a Baby" has supported with financing 3 395 childless women or 90% of all candidates. Since its establishment two years ago, the Fund had financed over 10 000 women and 1 400 babies have been born. The amount is estimated at BGN 15 M.
Data shows that anywhere between 26% and 30% of all in vitro attempts end with success.
The Fund finances up to three in vitro attempts per woman, and each of them is in the amount of up to BGN 5 000. Couples with reproduction problems are eligible with the age limit set at 43 for women.
21 clinics across Bulgaria work with the Fund and provide in vitro procedures.
