The opposition, left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, is preparing a claim for the Constitutional Court to declare the changes in the retirement system anti-constitutional.

The statement was made Tuesday by the BSP leader and former Prime Minister, Sergey Stanishev, who further informed the party is considering another no-confidence vote against the cabinet after the Holidays.

Stanishev also commented on the latest round of the war of words, exchanged through the media, between Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, and outgoing President, Georgi Parvanov.

Earlier Tuesday, Borisov hinted that Parvanov might be harboring ambitions to succeed him at the post, while the President thanked him for his effort and care for his future, and even went as far as forecasting that the Bulgarian left-wing will soon be in charge of the rule of the country.

Stanishev, however, stressed that it would be wrong to believe the elections will be automatically won by the Socialists, only because they are the strongest GERB opposition.

"It is not wise to undermine such strong and unscrupulous adversary as GERB. BSP will run in the next general elections with the goal of maximum results, and will not enter in any coalitions, including with GERB," the Socialist leader declared.

He also commented that some circles from BSP were inclined to agree on a coalition with GERB right after the general elections in 2009, but now GERB Members of the Parliament are hinting behind the scenes that BSP and GERB will rule together during the next term.

According to Stanishev, those from BSP who play such games are hurting the party's interests and its cause because its national task is to topple GERB from power.

The BSP leader, who was recently elected Chair of the Party of European Socialists, PES, commented on the last week's decisions of the European Council on the future of the Eurozone, saying they were not complete and did not solve the issue with the stability of the EUR.

He pointed out he expected Borisov to thank him and his cabinet for leaving as a legacy one of the lowest external debts in the entire EU and a fiscal reserve of BGN 8.2 B.
