Seventeen Bulgarian wineries are organizing over the weekend a wine tasting in the Old Town of the second largest city of Plovdiv.

The "Showcase of New Wine" will also include tasting of cheeses and other food products.

The event aims at making Bulgarian winemakers and opportunities for wine tourism in the region more popular. The wine tasting will be held in several Old Town houses with architecture from the Bulgarian National Revival, which will further create a suitable atmosphere.

Organizers have also prepared a musical program, and gifts for visitors. Artists will use wine as paint and will draw on special filter paper.

The best new wine will be determined through the vote of the visitors.

A special exhibit and the debut of the documentary "The Sunny Wine of Thracians" are accompanying the event.
