Diana Kovacheva, Executive Director of the Transparency without Borders Association, an affiliate of Transparency International, is the most likely new Bulgarian Justice Minister.

The news was reported Monday by the Bulgarian "Trud" (Labor) daily, citing their own sources in Brussels.

The NGO, which main goal is the fight against corruption on national and international level, works in close partnership with the European Parliament, the European Commission, and the EU anti-fraud office OLAF.

Kovacheva will replace at the post Margarita Popova, who was elected in October as Vice President on the ticket of the ruling, center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party (GERB).

The night after the elections runoff, on October 30, Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, announced that the new minister won't be a Member of the Parliament and said, several days later, he would reveal the name on December 1.

Diana Kovacheva was born in Sofia, in 1975. She graduated with a law degree from the Sofia "Kliment Ohridski" University. Kovacheva had worked for the Institute for Legal Sciences at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS). She became Executive Director of Transparency International Bulgaria in 2002.

In February 2011, Kovacheva received a PhD in International Law and International Relations. She is married to Ventsislav Kadardzhov, who is a member of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) from the quota of the opposition, left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP).
