Bulgaria: Sofia's Mayor Election Results Won't Be Canceled On October 23, Fandakova, who is endorsed by Bulgaria's ruling centrist-right GERB party, won the capital's election by gathering approximately 53% of the votes.

The Bulgarian opposition's demands for cancelation of the local election in the capitals Sofia have been expectedly rejected by the city's Administrative Court.

At the end of October, ruling centrist-right GERB's candidate Yordanka Fandakova was reelected as Mayor of the Bulgarian capital. A total of 53.31% of all Sofianites who voted in the local election supported incumbent, allowing her to clinch a first-round victory.

Left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party runner Georgi Kadiev won 22.24% of all votes, while right-wing Blue Coalition's Proshko Proshkov received 11.5%.

Both Kadiev and Prosshkov, as well as several other runners, demanded that the results be canceled and declared they wanted a recount, citing what they perceived as severe violations of the voting process.

The formation of electoral rolls and voting sections will not be technically inspected, the court has ruled. No witnesses will be questioned concerning the allegedly transparent voting ballots in the Bulgarian capital.

The next court hearing is scheduled for November 23.
