The team of Bulgaria's Minister for Regional Development and Public Works, Lilyana Pavlova, has a new member Wednesday.
Dobromir Simitchiev, who was the CEO of the Sofia Water Utility, has been appointed Deputy Regional Minister.
On Wednesday, Pavlova told the Bulgarian National Radio, BNR, that Simitchiev is young, energetic, and an engineer with expert knowledge in the water and sewage sector, where reforms are among the top priorities of her institution.
The Minister further informed the budget for regional development for 2012 will be the same as this year's – BGN 248 M with additional funding coming from the EU operational programs Regional Development and Transport and BGN 170 M in the form of State investment loan.
She explained that all projects announces as priority by her predecessor, Rosen Plevneliev, who is now running for president on the ticket of the ruling, center-right, Ciitzens fpr European Development of Bulgaria party (GERB), are going to be carried to completion along with new ones such as the beltways of the northwestern cities of Montana and Vratsa, a tunnel under the Shipka mountain pass in Stara Planina and repairs of the Kardzhali-Podkova road in southern Bulgaria.
It is expected that Popova will officially introduce her new team, including Simitchiev, later Wednesday.
