Global fast foot chain Subway is set to open the 20th of its restaurants in Bulgaria, and to double their number to 40 by the end of 2012, the company announced.
The 20th Bulgarian "Subway" spot will open doors on October 7, 2011, in the building of Sopharma Business Towers, which is a new office complex located on the Dragan Tsankov Blvd.
Subway Bulgaria has announced that it will treat all of its clients with a second sandwich for free in all of its restaurants in Bulgaria to celebrate the opening of its 20th venue.
The company said its expansion in Bulgaria is in line with its strategy to strive to be the largest fast food chain the countries where it operates.
Subway has opened over 19 000 new restaurants globally in the past 10 years, with 40 new venues being opened each week.
In addition, to Sofia, Varna, Burgas, and the Sunny Beach resort, in Subway Bulgaria will also target the markets in Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Veliko Tarnovo, Blagoevgrad, and a number of other resorts, including both sea and winter complexes.
"I am extremely happy that Subway Bulgaria continues to develop successfully and to attract even greater interest on part of franchisers. We will keep supporting them in starting their business that offers quality food and service to our clients," Ivan Todorov, CEO of Subway Bulgaria, is quoted as saying.
Subway's first Bulgarian restaurant was opened in 2008. As of October 1, 2011, Subway has 12 restaurants in Sofia, 3 in Varna, 2 in Burgas, and 2 in Sunny Beach.
In June 2011, Subway Bulgaria's success was recognized by the corporate headquarters, which picked it to develop Subway's operations on the Romanian market, its CEO Todorov was declared Business Development Director of the Year by Subway.
Subway, founded in 1965, is based in Milford, Connecticut, and has regional offices in Amsterdam, Beirut, Brisbane, Miami, and Singapore.
